Matthew 17:14-21

• This text teaches us that there will be situations that we encounter in our walk with God that will require more than the status quo.

• Our prayer life is going to have to be a little more than what’s comfortable, we are going to have to dive deep

Fasting is more than abstain from eating

• Requires self control – Galaans 5:22-23

• Controlling your appetite -1 Peter 1:13

• your desires

• your lust

• your longing

• spiritual appetite

• Fasting is as much- if not more about; what you do as it is about what

• don’t do, what you eat or don’t eat.

• Not eating but spent more time with God.

• Not eating physical food but rather eating physical food.

Fasting is a show of faith

• Faithfulness as in commitment and discipline

• 2 Timothy 2:3

• 2 Corinthians 12:9

Fasting More than anything is about

Intimacy with God

• Gettng to know God personally

• His character

• His Will

• We learn His will to live His will, to pray His will to birth out what God wills for us.

• Fasting-intimacy with God strengthens our spirit man.

• Until we become intimate with God, we will also ways only be full of potential eggs, eggs are the potential of conception and then birth.

• Conception and then birth will not-can not take place without intimacy
