Prayer for the Rain of God
The Canon of Prayer: Day 11
It is commonly known that water is symbolic of the Holy Spirit (John 7:38-39), how awesome; rain is water from heaven (the sky) and in the spiritual sense rain is the out pouring of the Spirit of God. When the Lord gave me my prayer assignment for today “pray for the rain”; I begin to meditate on what God wanted me to pray and He begin to reveal to me more of what rain represents.
Rain represents the presence of God (Hosea 6:3), it also represents His provision. Scripture tells us about God sending rain in due season.
“The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)
If we go back to the previous verses-verse eleven, we also see that rain represents increase, abundance, prosperity, the blessing and favor of God; the release of God.
“And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.”(Deuteronomy 28:11)
The Lord is sending His rain-His Spirit upon His people so that we are enabled to walk in the fullness of our identity as we discovery and realize who we are in God
“children of Zion...rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions”( Joel 2:23:28)
Rain, water is a vital element for the germination of a seed; we need to pray for the rain to water the seeds of the Kingdom we are sowing in the earth. Rain also represents the cleansing and refreshing that can only come from above, it represents life.
God send your rain upon this dry and parched land. I declare an open heaven and a great out pouring of your spirit accord to your word, and father you said that you look over your word to perform it. I Declare, the rain is falling
