Idolatry is a powerful stronghold which robs and hinders people from experiencing a relationship with the true God of the universe the Supreme King. Idolatry is an imitation, a counterfeit relationship that only God and man are intended to share. Through the ages Idolatry has taken many shapes and many faces. From alters and shrines, pictures, statues, grooves and even other humans; all in an attempt to recreate a relationship lost and one that can only be restore through Jesus Christ (even those saved in the Old testament placed their faith in the Messiah-Jesus). The devil has employed such a stronghold to keep men bound and preoccupied so he could continue to rule the earth and continue to destroy man and sentence them to hell with him.

Today idolatry has taken many forms, one in which I did not mention in the previous paragraph; that would be the idol of self, ego, pride, which ever you chose to call it. It is when you put self on the throne of your Heart where God is design to sit. This is the very thing that Satan was kick out of Heaven for; he literally wanted to sit on the throne of God. This is manifested in man wanting to live independent of God, denying and rejecting God.

We live in a society where we have American Idols, we idolize of favorite football teams and player, musical artist and that's just to name a few. People idolize their teachers, wives, husbands and children; some people idolize Pastors and preachers.

As we take the above definition in, understand no relationship, love or devotion is to be greater than the relationship, love or devotion you have for God, with God. Jesus said “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:3) This the same God that said “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me”. (Isaiah 45:5)

Religion also falls in to the place of Idolatry. God came to establish His Kingdom not any religious system. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. (Isaiah 9:6-7a) Jesus said that our number one priority is to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

Father, I tear down the strongholds of Idolatry in my city, state and region in the power and authority conferred to me by the King-Jesus and I break the chains of Idolatry off of the people, so that they are free to experience an authentic relationship with you the real God; the only true and living God.

This is the decree of the King
