The Canon of Pray; Day 43 #cocoon
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)
Cocooning is the process that a caterpillar undergoes as it transforms from caterpillar into a butterfly. Being a caterpillar is just one of the stage a butterfly goes through until it transforms into what it was purposed to be-a butterfly. The butterfly lives as a caterpillar after it hatches from the egg until is spins its chrysalis; also known as a cocoon. It is there in the chrysalis that the caterpillar is transformed and is "born again". Once the caterpillar spins its cocoon it begins the metamorphosis into what God intended it to be.
This cocooning process is a time for eating, dying, rearranging; it is a time of isolation and transformation. It is a time of separation and consecration. I sometime refer to fasting as cocooning. Fasting it a time of separation; separation from the world and those things that taint your transformation to what God has purposed you to be.
When we fast, we cocoon ourselves in God; along with isolation, cocooning is about the caterpillar having a safe place to eat. Fasting is often known for what we do not eat; however I want to draw our attention to the fact that fasting is eating spiritually. When we fast we feast on the word and as we feast on the word, we as being transformed by the renewing of our mind.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (John 2:15-16)
We are to take the time of isolation to separate from the world and transform. Just like the caterpillar that digests itself we too must die to self-our flesh and the world, we must rearrange ourselves according to the standard of the King. It is here in the place of fasting-cocooning we begin to become what God created us for.
Prayer
Father transform me into the person that you have destined me to be. I yield to the changing agent of your word that will cause me to metamorphosis into the image of your son; that I embrace and live from my kingdom Identity and fly.
This is the decree of the King
